Unlike most high street shops, Bourton Artisans is run entirely by the people who provide the goods on the shelves. Each hand crafted item was created by the Gloucestershire-based artists and craftspeople who also staff the shop.
Our Previous Shops
Prior to our current shop we were based in Cheltenham, initially as By Local, then as Arcade Artisans.
Our last Cheltenham premises were briefly at 25 Clarence Parade. Prior to this we were situated for 6 months in the large unit on the corner at The Brewery Quarter, Cheltenham, where we were able to offer work from over 40 artisans.
Before this we enjoyed a year at Beechwood Shopping Centre (now John Lewis). where Arcade Artisans first opened in 2014. We used to move shops across the garden there to swap between two different units every few months.
The shop owes its roots to ByLocal, our first shop, which ran successfully in Regent Arcade, Cheltenham, from 2009 - 2014. Contributing artists and craftspeople decided at By Local’s closure that they wanted to keep its ethos alive and find another venue. Thank you to all our customers over the years, who have helped support many local independant businesses through our various shops.

Bourton Artisans
We arrived in Bourton-on-the-Water in August 2017, for our first long-term shop.
We are located on Moore Road, (opposite the War Memorial) in a small but perfectly formed shop, currently showcasing the work of 20 different Gloucestershire-based artisans.
